Each concession has arranged its parasols and sun loungers in regular grids \u2014 a red-and-white block, a blue block, a yellow-and-green chequerboard, a pink square \u2014 so many territories in bold colours, separated by lanes of bare sand. At the top of the frame, the ocean answers with its own logic: a band of almost unreal green, hemmed with foam, where a few bathers form dark dots. Between the two, the shoreline, flecked with seaweed, serves as a natural border to this almost painterly composition.
